
Following a rainy winter, spring arrived early under bright and sunny conditions. Flowering at the end of May was optimal, setting the tone for an early-ripening vintage. The summer was dry and hot, causing some sunburn on the berries, but the harvest, which began on August 24, was in excellent health. The first base wines stood out for their richness, expressiveness and remarkable freshness.
Located between Ludes and Chigny-les-Roses, the ’’Dessous de Mont’’ parcel covers 18.25 ares and faces northwest on clay-limestone soils. Planted in 1990 on the slopes of the Montagne de Reims, it fully expresses the power and precision of Pinot Noir grown on chalk-rich terroirs.
